This week, these two players helped right the ship of their respective team’s disappointing seasons. For that, they earned our offensive and defensive Player of the Week honors.

Offense: D’Onta Foreman JR RB – Texas

For the second week in a row, D’Onta Foreman was a one-man wrecking crew out of the backfield as he dominated yet another helpless defense. After setting a career high for rushing yards last week, Foreman was able to exceed that total on his way to 341 rushing yards against Texas Tech.

Foreman has made a name for himself this season as the best running back to play for Texas since Jamaal Charles, and is generating buzz as a Heisman Trophy candidate as well. For the 10th straight game (longest active streak in the nation), Foreman eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark, and he added three touchdowns as well. If Foreman keeps this pace up, look for the junior to earn a trip to New York City as season’s end.

Defense: Travin Howard JR LB – TCU

In TCU’s 62-22 dismantling of the rival Baylor Bears, Travin Howard made plays all over the field en route to 12 total tackles. He also added his first pass defense of the year.

Following a disappointing home loss to Texas Tech last weekend, TCU came out with a vengeance. Howard’s play has a lot to do with the thrashing the Horned Frogs put on Baylor. Howard has had over ten tackles in six straight games, and in seven of nine games this season. He has now recorded over 100 total tackles for the second straight season. Look for him to keep up his high level of play when TCU comes out of their bye next weekend against Oklahoma State.
